Here at MWAH Hairdressers and Beauty Salon Bournemouth we are really a close team. We’ve all got our special skills and experience, but our first priority is always you, our client, and we work together to ensure you get the best possible service and experience. Here’s a little bit about each of us
Every glamorous salon needs a glamorous manageress, and we are delighted to have one of the finest here at MWAH. Lisa has been with us since February 2014, but has already made an incredible impact on our clients and on the whole team that she manages.
What’s interesting is that Lisa has come to our industry with a very unique perspective. Rather than pursuing a career in hair and beauty from school, Lisa worked her way up the Retail Management frame, having worked for some of the biggest names in retail, including River Island, Fat Face amongst others. Lisa went on to then act as Area Manager and Buyer for the likes of French Connection, Joseph and DIESEL. Lisa even ran her own Style consultancy, with some famous faces as clients!
Lisa moved to Bournemouth in 2008, and she and her husband have a beautiful little girl too. Being a family-orientated person, and having taken some time off after having her little girl, Lisa decided that she wanted to work with the pubic in customer service and management, given that is where her passion lay. “A happy team makes a happy work place, and at M.W.A.H we all work together to support one another to create a unique environment for our customers,” Lisa explains.
Lisa recalls how she came to work at MWAH: “I was actually a customer and acquaintance of Simone’s for quite a while. One day, Simone was looking for a receptionist and Salon Manager and knew that I was looking for a new role – so she asked me WHY I hadn’t applied! The rest, as they say, is history!”
“I love working here, running the salon with Simone, managing our consultant’s diaries and helping our customers with whatever it is they need. We’ve got an exciting year on the horizon, with the potential for MWAH to become the leading salon in the whole region! What we do at MWAH and Hair Loss Bournemouth is so very, very different – especially on the hair loss side, where I am particularly passionate about giving extra support to many of our customers who have been through traumatic times.”
Lisa’s incredible attitude and no-nonsense approach make her instantly likable, and simply a valuable member of the MWAH family.
We are delighted to have the inimitable Jacqui Jefford as part of our MWAH family, having recently returned after 3 years living in Egypt. Jacqui truly is at the cutting edge of nails and education here in the UK and internationally, and has confirmed her place at the top of her trade by hard work, precise techniques and great technical skills.
Currently, Jacqui is proudly the Brand Advisor to Binki London, fronted by Made in Chelsea star, Binki Felstead. In 2005 Jacqui was crowned British Nail Professional of the Year and has also won silver and gold medals at the World Nail Olympics in Las Vegas. A regular on Fashion Weeks in London and Paris saw her working for Givenchy, Alexander McQueen, Ben-de Lisi, John Rocha, and Donna Karen, as well as having adorned the Harrods’ Christmas Window display with her creations.
Jacqui’s name is equally well recognised on advertising campaigns such as Rimmel, Kurt Geiger, Vodaphone and Jaeger. Her work has also been featured on front covers of Vanity Fair Hollywood Special, performing manicures on the likes of Sophia Loren and many other celebrities – too many to list! Jacqui has 6 Vogue cover shots under her belt as well as ES Magazine, Time Out, Sunday Times, Hello, Cosmopolitan, Tatler and Grazia.
Her name has long been associated with many top organisations, professionals and celebrities. However, there is more to Jacqui than the celebrity circuit and editorial work. She is widely regarded one of the top Educators in the UK and as such is closely involved with City and Guilds and HABIA on the development of the Beauty Industry and its qualifications.
Her work has taken her to many different countries as a Lecturer and Judge including Dubai, USA, South Africa, India and all over Europe. In her spare time she has penned four books and range of DVDs as well as regularly contributing to professional and consumer publications. Jacqui’s passion for her industry has taken her on a career path that is varied to say the least and an amazing journey. She is a highly respected individual by all of her professional colleagues and clientele.
Madeleine Christin Forland
Madeleine, or Madde to her friends and many regular clients, is another of our new team members at MWAH.
Madde joined us in May 2014 as a hairdresser and beauty therapist, following her qualification from college – where she was an Electrical Award winner – and having spent some time honing her craft at another salon locally.
Madde says: “It’s great to be working with such a friendly team at MWAH. The other girls here are fabulous and I’m sure I’m going to learn a lot from them all.”
Clients will love Madde’s techniques, whether enjoying a relaxing massage, a refreshing facial or a glamorous HD Brow or Spray Tan.
Madde is a hugely positive person, who never gives up on a challenge. She is motivated by having happy customers, working with a lovely team, and making sure that she’d bang up to date with the latest techniques by taking new courses and skills workshops.
When she’s not working, Madde enjoys spending time working on hobby crafts, or simply relishing a lovely dinner and curling up with a good film.
Bright, bubbly and beautiful, Lisa is one of the new members of the MWAH team. Having joined the team recently, Lisa brings many years’ experience to our team, having recently left her previous role at a salon in Blandford. Lisa qualified aged 18, and has also worked for some of the biggest names in hairdressing, including Scissors, Mark Young and Toni & Guy.
“I joined MWAH because they are doing things very differently! I love that no two days are the same in the salon. Everyone is so friendly – and talented in what they do,” says Lisa.
Lisa is hugely experienced as a colourist, especially in the field of colour correction. She now also takes an active role in helping ladies with hair extensions, as well as with hair replacement systems from our sister company, Hair Loss Bournemouth.
“I love the technical aspects of the job, and I also get a kick from mentoring youngsters coming through our exciting industry. The future at MWAH looks really bright with a growing salon on the cards.”
Lisa was also named a Regional Finalist in the L’Oreal Men’s Image Award, and has also done some impressive session work for a photographic company – plus some funky work with a pole dancing school.
Lisa is family orientated and has a gorgeous 1 year old daughter, which brings her balance in life. Since she saw our job ad on Facebook, she hasn’t looked back… she is thrilled to be working at MWAH, and we are just thrilled to have her!
Hadley, or Hads as we like to call her, joined our MWAH family in early April 2014 as a Junior stylist. Since then, she really has become a popular member of the team and with clients alike.
Before joining our team, Hadley was completing her Level 3 Hairdressing qualification at Bournemouth and Poole College. It’s so great to have local talent right here in the MWAH salon – we can definitely see why the creative talent coming out of Bournemouth and Poole is so sought after!
Hadley recounted one of her career highlights to us: “When I completed my hair training at the Toni & Guy academy in London, I was asked to show my final show-piece work at the end of the whole show – as the Finale – which meant a lot since I had only just qualified! Also, I have really enjoyed the small things like cutting people’s hair in the strangest of places, like on the beach or on the roof of some London flats looking out at the skyline. But most of all, for me, it’s about seeing a happy face every time I finish a client’s hair.”
Hadley’s college final show featured her Avant-guard “under the sea Warrior Queen” hair style, which got through to the final cat walk round, something she found really exciting. She says: “Fingers crossed for the future, I’d love to get involved as many shows as I can!”
Hadley says that she is motivated by the great team here at the salon, with everyone supporting each other. She commented “It’s like a family and I’m excited to have the chance to learn as much as I can in my field and to push myself to new heights.”
Outside of work, Hads likes nothing more than to chill with friends, listening to live music. She is also currently writing a children’s book and illustrating it with water colours. She has walked across the north of Spain and England on their pilgrimages, but nothing for her beats cooking good food and spending time at the beach, her favourite place!
