Aromatherapy Massage Available @MWAH Bournemouth
Solid research has proven that massage therapy can:
- Boost the immune system
- Significantly lower blood pressure
- Comfort those going through drug or alcohol withdrawal
- Sooth chronic joint and muscle pain
- Battle fatigue
- Ease stress
- Combat depression
Here at MWAH@Bournemouth we offer massage therapy using a wide selection of aromatherapy oils. Some of the oils we use and their benefits are listed below:
- Almond oil is an excellent emollient, it’s very softening and soothing to the skin, and also helps the skin to balance its loss and absorption of moisture. This oil is one of the most popular of the carrier oils used in aromatherapy and massage and is great for nourishing the skin. The aroma is light, slightly sweet and nutty.
- Grapeseed oil is rich in linoleic acid which is important for the skin and the cell membranes. It is purported to have regenerative and restructuring qualities and has great skin moisturising properties. It has a slightly sweet hint of a nutty aroma. It contains vitamins, minerals, and protein, GLA, and a small amount of vitamin E.
- Apricot oil has moisturising, nourishing and revitalising properties and is particularly helpful for dehydrated, delicate, mature and sensitive skin. It is also helpful to soothe inflammation.
- Avocado oil is often used for clients with dry or mature skin, people suffering from eczema, psoriasis or similar skin complaints. It is also very useful when treating sun or climate damaged skin that is dehydrated and under nourished, as it is said to help with the regenerating of the skin and softening of the tissue.
- Jojoba oil closely resembles that of your own skin; it is an excellent moisturiser and is ideal for all skin types. It can in most cases be used on blemished skin without any problems, as it helps to control acne. Jojoba is also a favourite oil to use as it is suitable for all skin types. The aroma is not as sweet as the nut oils.
- Wheat germ oil has a high vitamin E content and essential fatty acids. It is said to promote a smoother, younger-looking skin, assisting in healing scar tissue as well as stretch marks. When it is applied topically on to the skin it is said to help promote the formation of new cells, improve circulation, and help repair sun damage. It is also used to help relieve the symptoms of dermatitis.
- Hazelnut oil has great moisturising qualities. Hazelnut oil can help to tone and tighten the skin while strengthening capillaries and assisting in cell regeneration.
Hopi Ear Candling Available @MWAH Bournemouth
A Hopi ear candle is actually a cotton tube, impregnated with beeswax, honey and therapeutic oils. This is painlessly inserted into the ear to draw out impurities, relieve pressure in the head and sinuses, and aid hearing problems.
What does it involve?
The client lies down on their side, with their head supported on a pillow so the auditory canal is vertical. The candle is then lit and the non-burning end is placed gently into the outer ear passage and is turned lightly to seal it in place.
The candle then generates a pleasant crackling sound and a warm, comfortable feeling while it draws out the impurities from the ear. After around 10 minutes the process is repeated on the other ear. This is followed by a period of relaxation, and sometimes a facial massage concentrating on the sinus areas.
What is it good for?
Success in treating balance and inner ear problems, build up of wax, ringing in the ears, tinnitus, hearing difficulties and sinus problems as well as colds, flu, sore throats, stress, headaches and migraines. The treatment is suitable for children and is a good alternative for people who have found syringing uncomfortable.
What are the benefits?
Many clients find the treatment relaxing. As well as the relieved feeling that comes from reduced pressure in the ears and sinuses, clients may experience a general calming effect.
What are the side effects and when should it be avoided?
Hopi ear candles should not be used if there is any inflammation or infection in the ear and are not suitable for people who have had recent ear surgery, or those with ear grommets or tubes, perforated ear drums, or allergies to any of the products in the candle.
Anyone who is receiving medical treatment for any ear condition should always consult their doctor first. Some clients may experience headaches or light popping in the ears after treatment.
Threading Available @MWAH Bournemouth
Threading is one of the oldest methods of body hair removal. It originated in Turkey, although it is currently most popular in India and is also gaining popularity in the UK.
Threading involves the therapist rolling twisted cotton threads over your hairlines to remove your unwanted hair. This is a difficult technique to master, it takes therapists many months to perfect. Here at MWAH@Bournemouth our therapists are fully qualified in this technique.
The Advantages to threading as a hair removal technique are as follows:
- Threading is much healthier for the skin than waxing, and it creates no ingrown hairs.
- It is inexpensive, fast and relatively painless (with a skilled practitioner).
- Threading is suitable for all skin types, even those too sensitive for laser hair removal or waxing.
- It takes no more than 15 minutes to thread both eyebrows.
- No chemicals are used in threading, so there is no risk of a negative reaction.
- The results of the treatment last for two to four weeks.
Male & Female Waxing is Available @MWAH Bournemouth
What is available here at MWAH@Bournemouth? You can have anything from facial – lip & chin, eyebrows, to Brazilian and bikini line waxing, full legs, ½ legs, arms, and just about any body part that has hair. Many men have back and chest waxing too, Brazilian, as well as nose and ear waxing. Body waxing is an extremely safe and economical treatment for hair removal on men and women alike.
What are the advantages of waxing over shaving for example?
When hair is removed through waxing, the full hair is pulled out at the root. When it grows back, it is much softer. When you shave, the hair is cut off at the level of the skin, so as it grows out, it is thicker and stiff. You are more likely to have in-grown hair with shaving. If you wax on a regular basis (every 4 to 5 weeks), the hair will start growing back on the same growth cycle, so after about 3 months, you will have longer periods of hair free time. And when there is growth it will be thinner and softer so the appearance wont be as obvious.
Eyelash Extensions are Available @MWAH Bournemouth
A full consultation will be carried out at your first eyelash extension appointment to determine your requirements, such as length, curl, and thickness. A patch test is not required since the adhesive does not come into contact with the skin. The lash extension procedure is painless. You will be lying down with your eyes shut throughout the procedure some clients have even fallen asleep during their treatment! The correct application of your eyelash extensions requires one extension to be applied to one single natural lash. The extension is then glued approximately 1mm from the lash line. The eyelash extension sits on the natural lash and does not interfere with the natural eyelashes. When the natural lash reaches the end of its cycle it will be shed, taking the extension with it. A new natural lash will grow up in its place and a new extension can then be applied. This is why eyelash extensions can be worn on a continuous basis, adding new extensions to the new natural lashes as they grow through to replace the extensions lost due to natural shedding.
Without doubt, this beauty treatment is expensive. The majority of people shop around looking for the most competitive price, but the quality of your eye lash extensions and the application is equally important. You may find the treatment being offered at what appears to be a bargain, but it is unlikely they will be putting in as many lashes or they may be grouping several together which gives an unnatural clumping effect. A good technician will apply at least 100 extensions to each eye. The adhesive that is used is also a key factor – making the difference to whether your extensions last 2 weeks or 2 months! On average it should take 1 and a half to 2 hours. Anything under this time will generally mean you’re not getting enough eye lashes which will lead to a disappointing result.
Manicures & Pedicures are Available @MWAH Bournemouth
Questions?
1) Are you embarrassed by the look of your nails on your hands or feet?
2) Would you like lovely natural nails?
3) Have you tried growing your nails but they keep breaking?
If you answered YES to any of the questions above then you could benefit from a manicure or pedicure with our highly trained beauty therapists at MWAH@Bournemouth.
What exactly is a Manicure?
A manicure is a cosmetic beauty treatment for the hands and natural fingernails including shaping and polishing. It dates back 5000 years ago to India, when henna/mendhi was used for a manicure. The word “manicure” comes from the Latin manus, meaning “hand,” and cura meaning “care”.
What is a Pedicure?
A pedicure is a cosmetic beauty treatment to improve the appearance of your feet, and natural toe nails. It is basically a manicure for the feet. The word pedicure comes from the Latin words pes, which means foot, and cura, which means care. A pedicure can be helpful because it can help to prevent nail diseases and nail disorders. The history of pedicures dates back to ancient Egypt.
What can you expect from a treatment?
Women aren’t the only ones who enjoy manicures—businessmen also get them so their hands are clean and attractive. One perk is that a manicure doesn’t take long, so you can squeeze one in during your lunch hour or if you have a break between appointments during the day. Manicures are nice for treating yourself or a friend when you want to indulge yourselves.
For women, getting a manicure in a trendy new shade can act as an accessory to your outfits. Letting yourself relax while your nails are buffed and polished helps you unwind after a long day. Having your nails regularly trimmed and inspected for hangnails or fungus keeps them clean and healthy. Manicure products can hydrate and exfoliate the skin on your hands and surrounding your nails. Each treatment session takes at least half an hour. Every session starts with your hands or feet being washed and cleaned, with all jewellery removed if possible. Old nail polish is removed with nail polish remover. The hands or feet are then dried. The nails are then trimmed and filed to the desired length and shape. Hands or feet are then soaked in water to soften the skin, particularly the cuticles. The cuticles are then pushed back. Dead, loose skin is removed. Nails are then polished and a layer of nail varnish is applied if required, but if dealing with problem nails then special lacquers or paints will be used instead of the polish to help return the nails back to health. The treatment is finished with a massage using special lotions. Our nail treatments concentrate on the conditioning of the cuticle and your natural nails. The products we use are designed to be applied on a regular basis and you may be advised on a course of treatments if required. We only use top quality nail products here at MWAH from places such as Creative & Sweet Squared.
