Aftercare Instructions

When you have had your hair extensions fitted DO NOT wash your hair for the first 3 to 5 days to allow your scalp to settle.

Wash your hair extensions once or twice a week only. If you need to cleanse your scalp use dry shampoo. You can wash the top area if this becomes greasy as the hair extensions will not be applied to the crown area. Virgin hair can be washed more often.

Moisturise every other day with serum, Bedhead smoothing cream or Moroccan Oil. The hair does not receive your natural oils so you need to add the moisture. If you do not moisturise your hair extensions they will become dry and brittle leading to breakage and split ends. Use only a small amount of products listed to avoid saturating the hair and making it limp and greasy.

Always use a good clarifying shampoo and conditioner. Bed Head Urban anti-dotes, Keraste and Moroccan Oil are good ones to use. If you have bonds avoid conditioning the bonded area, work the conditioner in the hair from mid length downwards.

Your hair extension technician may also sell hair extension shampoos, conditioners, serums and vitamin sprays, specifically formulated for hair extensions. If you would rather purchase these products ask the technician.

Always brush out all knots before you wash your hair, swim or sleep. Start at the bottom and work your way up slowly using a hair extension brush or wide toothed comb.

Make sure you wash in between the braids to keep your scalp clean and free of bacteria.

Braid your hair and use a soft bobble at night to keep your hair extensions neatly in a ponytail. This will prevent your hair from tangling through tossing and turning during sleep.

Always shampoo and condition after swimming in the sea or pool, chlorine can dry your hair out just like the salt in the sea water. This will soften the bonds and make the hair extensions loosen, so make sure hair is wash thoroughly after this activity.

Go back to your technician every 4 to 6 weeks for maintenance visits; this will help with the longevity. Hair extensions should not be worn longer than a three month period!! Longer wearing will result in matting and tangling.

Do not bleach, dye, perm or chemically straighten your hair extensions, they have already been processed and may be damaged if processed again. If hair is virgin this can be coloured, but once done it will not be in virgin state, but will still be much better than regular remi hair.

When blow drying your hair, add a little Moroccan Oil or serum to the wet hair. This will make the wide toothed comb, brush or hair dryer comb attachment glide easily through the hair and give beautiful bounce.

Always use a heat protection spray when straightening hair this will create a protective barrier against the heat. Wella, Bed head and Matrix do good ones.

NEVER go to bed with your hair extensions wet, this will cause matting and tangling.

Don’t brush harshly and tug at the extensions, as this can loosen and damage the connection which holds them to your hair. Harsh treatment will also put strain on the natural hair root. A tangle teezer brush or hair extension brush or wide toothed comb are recommended to use on your hair extensions.

Hair extensions are fun, fashionable and sexy and your hair is your beauty so enjoy.
